Teacher Responsibilities
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate high moral standards at the school and within the community;
• Help students develop self-awareness, make career choices, and prepare for overseas study;
• Deliver assigned courses using a variety of appropriate and engaging instructional methods;
• In collaboration with peers, develop detailed lesson plans aligned to both scope and student needs;
• Maintain records in Power School SIS, including progress reports and report cards;
• Understand requirements and learning outcomes of British Columbia or World School curricula;
• Independently manage students to create an organized and disciplined learning environment;
• Diagnose, analyze, and differentiate lessons to meet the needs of struggling and advanced students;
• Support non-native English-speaking students to meet the learning goals outlined by the curriculum;
• Develop proficiency with and contribute materials using Canvas and other remote learning tools;
• Adapt, reflect and grow in diverse professional and cross-cultural circumstances;
• Make a strong contribution to the school’s extra-curricular program including clubs and school events;
• Attend weekly assembly, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities;
About the Candidate
• Sets instructional outcomes while using assessment to develop and demonstrate knowledge of students;
• Responsively creates a culture for learning and classrooms of respect and rapport;
• Uses questioning and discussion techniques in non-native English-speaking learning environments;
• Holds a clean criminal record;
• Completed high school and bachelor’s degree at an accredited university in a native-English country;
• Holds an Education, masters’ degree, or certificate from a recognized teacher education program;
• Recognized teaching certificate issued in a native English-speaking country;
• Maintains a lifestyle and personal habits compatible with the laws of the host country;
• New graduates with completed practicums and newly qualified teachers warmly welcomed;
Contract and Benefits
• 53,000-71,000 CAD per year salary based upon verifiable teaching experience; 24 months of payments;
• Option to receive a salary in RMB, USD or CAD or combination; re-sign bonus: 1,000 CAD;
• Approximately 12 weeks ≅70 days paid leave per year subject to province regulations and school policy;
• Zero-deductible family health insurance VIP in China with emergency cover worldwide;
• Monday-Friday 7:30-16:30 schedule; approximately 25 teaching hours per week, or 20 blocks;
• Annual return flights for teacher and dependents in China; paid upfront with 100 CAD baggage credit;
• 5,000 RMB settlement allowance, accommodation support, paid on-campus housing can be arranged;
• Full support for a work permit; reimbursement of document authentication and visa application costs;
• Strong professional development and in-service continuing education support;
