The European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and versatile educator who will join the faculty team of the school in August 2020.

The school is an “IB World School” and is authorized to provide IBPYP, IBMYP, and IBDP programmes. The School is committed to instilling the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and the EIS Learning Principles, which are based on current theories of best practice for teaching and learning and ensure a continuum of learning throughout all sections of the school.

Overview

The European International School Ho Chi Minh City (EIS) was founded in 2009 and is a member of A-Star Education, Singapore. The school is an independent, co-educational and multicultural international school and satisfies the requirements of the Council of International Schools (CIS) for membership and accreditation status. The campus is located in a suburban district of the city and is considered a boutique “educational village” comprised of 13 renovated villas in a tropical garden setting, enhanced with purpose build facilities.

The current enrolment of the school is 570 students, approximately 200 of whom are in the Middle and High Schools. There are 46 nationalities represented, the largest representations being from Korea, Vietnam, Germany, UK, and Australia. The medium of instruction and over 60% of the student body has English as a Second Language.

Teachers

1.    Characteristics

Successful candidates need to be able to demonstrate a growth mindset and an understanding of the challenges inherent in being a small but growing school. As an IB school, experience of teaching in an IB school is an advantage, through the school will always consider well qualified and self-motivated teachers from other teaching backgrounds. A willingness to engage fully in the school's community, enrichment activities, excursions, and other events is a must.

Desire to teach international curricula, in particular, the IB PYP, MYP, DP programmes.

Desire to work on whole school programmes and initiatives

Experience in pastoral care and enthusiasm to be a homeroom teacher

Willingness and ability to offer creative, active or service related extra-curricular activities.

2.    Responsibilities

Homeroom teacher duties

Teaching English Language Learners (ELL) in IBMYP (Grades 6 through Grade 10).

All teachers are expected to contribute to the development of the academic and pastoral curriculum, working independently and as part of the team.

4.    Contract Type

• 24 months renewable contract.
• Competitive monthly salary based on qualifications and experience.
• Monthly accommodation allowance for Expatriate Hires.
• Annual round-trip airfare to the international airport of your home country. Each country is designated as a zone with a flat maximum limit on flights for Expatriate Hires
• Severance Allowance at the end of the contract: ½ monthly salary for each full serviced year.
• Lunch, coffee and daily morning and afternoon snacks are provided for working days.
• Health insurance cover for employees and registered dependants worldwide except for US and Canada, includes in-patient, out-patient (20% co-payment), dental (co-payment), wellness check-up, medical evacuation and repatriation (N/A where this is provided by another source)
• Opportunities are provided for IB training and for participation in education conferences, workshops and job-alike session in Ho Chi Minh City and regionally.
• 100% tuition benefits for up to two children for Expatriate Hires.
