This ‘Parts of Speech Colour Coded’ resource makes learning and reviewing parts of speech an enjoyable and relaxing activity. It can also increase vocabulary and raise awareness to the fact that some words can serve different purposes in sentences.   

If a word can be used in more than one way in a sentence,( e.g. swim can be a verb or a noun) the tip for completing the worksheet is to leave that word until the picture is almost completed, then use the colour which fits in best with the picture.

The parts of speech included are  noun, verb, adjective, adverb, pronoun, preposition, conjunction, interjection   

For students who are learning English as an Additional Language, there is the possibility of dictionary work to increase vocabulary. If vocabulary is unknown students can look up a dictionary, find the meaning and part of speech, then colour the section in the appropriate colour. Interspersed with colouring, dictionary work becomes more interesting.
