Hey, my name is Amy. I have a teaching degree and have many years of speaking and teaching English as well as a TEFL certificate.
I am currently living in South Africa, where I was born but I love to travel. I have been to many countries around the world and I love getting to know new cultures.
I love getting to know people and the way they like to learn. I will take the time to get to know you and what it is you want to get out of each individual lesson. Any topic is an option and I will do my best to get you to the level of English that you would like to achieve.

Sookhan Family
February 2017 to November 2017
In 2017 I also worked for a family as a private tutor. I taught a 12 year-old girl and a 6 year-old boy. In this experience I helped both children with their daily homework as well as additional activities where I thought they needed to improve. I created my own worksheets for each of them which focused on specifics that needed to be addressed or improved. I taught all subjects to them, but focused on English as both their parents were not fluent in English and therefore they had no assistance from them.I really enjoyed the experience and getting to know the two children. They were both completely different and presented different challenges, but I learnt a great deal.
Crawford Preparatory School
July 2017 to December 2017
I taught at this school for the second 6 months in the final year of my teaching degree. This experience was completely different to my previous school as this is a private school. This meant that I was exposed to some high quality teaching and resources. I also had the opportunity to interact with, and observe very experienced teachers whom I learnt a lot from. I taught life skills and social sciences and became very familiar with both curricula. This experience also posed its own challenges that were completely different to the ones I faced at my previous school.
Lytleton Primary School
January 2017 to July 2017
I taught at this school for 6 months during my final year of my teaching degree. This school is a public school in Pretoria,South Africa. There was approximately 30-35 children per class which presented many different challenges. The experience was an eye-opener and I learnt a lot about myself and the teacher I want to become. My need to help others was heightened during this experience. I taught all subjects to grades 4 to 7, even though I was only supposed to be teaching social sciences and life skills. I learnt valuable lessons and skills during these six months.
