To whom it may concern,
I am a qualified lawyer that has five years of experience in the legal profession. I have obtained a bachelors degree in law (cum laude) as well as an honors degree in law (cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. In adddition to the above qualifications, I matriculated with distinction in 2006, achieving an aggregate of 86% in the subject of English.
I believe my university qualifications (which included the study of English as an independent subject) as well as my experience in the legal field (where one’s ability to properly understand and utilise English is of utmost importance) place me in a unique and advantageous position to teach English, particularly to persons wanting to learn how to communicate in the professional or corporate arena.
As a student, I taught art and craft classes on a part-time basis to school children between the ages of 6 years to 13 years of age. The size of the classes ranged from between 15 to 30 students. Additionally, I tutored accounting and economics to individual students.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching others and from the results achieved and levels of improvement shown by my former students, I am able to confidently say that I have a knack for teaching and assisting others to understand and remember complicated concepts.
I am a highly motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic individual who works well with both children and adults. I consider myself to be a people’s person and love interacting with others.
I have chosen to take a sabbatical from the legal profession in order to travel for the foreseeable future. I would like to teach English online as a means to fund my travels and to provide myself with structure and stability during the course of the year. I have an extremely flexible schedule and am willing to go above and beyond to encourage and assist my students to achieve the goals they have in mind for themselves.
Thank you for considering my application, I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Ashleigh
