My name is Jamie and I grew up in the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina. While attending the College of Charleston for my undergrad, I studied Spanish for a semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina. That was when the travel bug hit me and I instantly fell in love with immersing myself in different cultures and learning foreign languages. When I graduated college, I was forced to make a difficult decision on my future career plans: to take the safer path and work in Advertising in New York City, or go out of my comfort zone to teach English in South Korea. At the age of 22, I decided it was easier for myself (and for my parents!) to go to NYC to make a steady living.
So here I am, almost 6 years later! I quit my nice advertising job in NYC in November of 2016 and have been traveling around parts of SE Asia and New Zealand ever since. I quickly realized that I never want to stop traveling. In the back of my mind I've always thought that teaching English would be a great way to do this and I often regret how I didn't go for it back when I just graduated college. Not only do I love how this type of job allows me to travel, but I have always loved working with children and helping others. My mother is an ESL teacher herself and she is a constant inspiration to me!
