• Worked collaboratively with co-teachers and colleagues to create engaging and rigorous differentiated lessons across areas adhering to the NYS Common Core Learning Standards and EngageNY curriculum
• Provided special education services and support while adhering to student’s IEP and 504 plans
• Attended CST meetings and annual review and triennial IEP meetings to develop and update IEP goals and communicate progress towards IEP goals with parents and service providers
• Administered NWEA assessment across all grade levels (K-8)
• Facilitated professional development workshops for colleagues focusing on effectively analyzing and using NWEA data to enhance lesson planning and provide support to students, best practices in Class Dojo behavior management systems, utilizing computer based programming such as Think Cerca and Compass Learning to prepare students for standardized testing, and Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Program focusing on best practices for test preparation
• Incorporated Close Reading Curriculum in daily lessons to enhance student understanding when engaging with complex texts
• Organized and implemented school-wide cultural celebrations including an annual Middle School Poetry Slam, which highlighted student-created work and performances for parents and the community
• Coordinated an annual student Newspaper after school organization to enhance social interactions and spotlight student work while at the same time communicated “school happenings” with parents and families
• Orchestrated a weekly literary book club in order to provide enrichment and critical thinking opportunities for above grade level ELA students
• Applied for and received a grant through Facing History and Ourselves in order to increase cultural awareness and build text-to-world through literature and social studies
• Successfully mentored and supported new teachers in behavior management, curriculum planning, data analysis and effective parent communication skills
• Coordinated grade level field trips, in connection with our units of study, to enhance student understanding and build connections to the material, including  NY Hall of Science, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Medieval Times
• Developed and implemented successful BIP plans in collaboration with parents, co-teachers and CST support staff for high-risk students
• Coordinated and executed the annual sixth grade awards ceremony and middle school dance
• Designed project-based learning opportunities in which students built research skills through interacting with technological resources.
• Collaborated with physical education teacher to create service learning opportunities where students collected materials and made care packages for active military personnel
• Planned and created school-wide curriculum as part of Curriculum Committee using research-based strategies to devise new units of study for grades K-8
