Hello!
I am a recent University of Oregon graduate with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. While studying the sciences, I took Portuguese language classes and fell in love with learning new languages and about different cultures. This experience exposed me to the challenges and joys of learning a new language.
I lived for a Summer in Austria and worked at a high-tech company where I took English-language training materials translated awkwardly from German and updated them into conversation American English. I also met people from all over the world who were not native speakers. This helped me develop empathy for people who work hard to learn English.
When I grew up, I attended a theater camp, first as a student, then as a teacher. I am comfortable with public speaking and also teaching concepts. At University of Oregon, I assisted in leading 3 discussion sections, each with 30-40 students about conservation biology.
In my spare time I love to play guitar, go hiking, go rock climbing, play soccer (football) and meet new people.
I know I'd be a great addition to your team because I'm affable, enthusiastic, love languages, enjoy new challenges, and understand what it is like to learn a new language.
I'd love to answer any questions you may have so please don't hesitate to ask!
Thanks!
