I remember the first time I ever taught a class. I was in University and a group of 20 students, ages 7 to 12 wanted to learn all the hidden secrets of journalism and create a magazine for their school. That project will have a special place in my heart forever, even though it was not the first time I was teaching something or helping someone with lessons and homework. I have always been an A student and always helped people around me to study, from neighbors, friends, my two little brothers, and fellow classmates.
I am currently enrolled in English, Journalism, and Art History classes at Los Angeles City College, and in the past 2 years, I was editor in chief of the school newspaper and now the magazine. As editor in chief is it not only my obligation to have the reporters turn in their articles on time, but also to guide them and help them develop their stories as much as possible by giving them pointers, teaching the new reporters the ways of a newsroom and so on.
I just started volunteering for the adult literacy program at the Los Angeles Library and that also, helps me share my knowledge by helping those who need guidance.
Children or adults, I think we all learn every day, our entire lives and improving ourselves is the best self-care out there.
