About Me
Introduction:
Hello,
My name is Taylor Wells. I am a 22 year old American currently living in Taichung, Taiwan where I am teaching English. Teaching runs in my family, with my mother and grandmother both being educators, and it has been a passion of mine my whole life. There are few things more rewarding than seeing the growth of students over a period of time and allowing them to pursue their dreams.
At Juniata College, I combined my passion for teaching and my interest in history to complete my Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Secondary Education. With this, I received my certification in the state of Pennsylvania to teach Instructional I Social Studies 7-12.
After graduation, I wanted to be able to travel and also teach others, which led me to come to Taiwan and teach English. I am currently in my first year of teaching in Taiwan and have had a great experience. I am also looking to continue to grow and challenge myself as a teacher, and I look forward to exploring more opportunities.

During college, I worked for Harper Homes each summer. I had many different jobs during this time, mostly involving landscaping, This job taught me many lessons, including the value of working hard for your employer and the persistence required for physical labor. During these summers, I also gained experience with my people skills by interacting with many different kinds of residents and focusing on ensuring they are happy with my work.

For HESS, I teach at a small school in Taichung, Taiwan. I teach a variety of English skills including phonics, reading, grammar, patterns, conversation, songs, listening, and problem-solving, to students aged 6-16 in 11 different courses. I also teach Science weekly to one of my classes. I am the only full-time Native Speaking English Teacher at my school, so I handle most of the course load. This job has given me many different obstacles and experiences that have helped me grow as an educator. Upon completion of my first year, I will receive a TEFL certification from the company with over 1000 hours of practicum teaching.
