Position Summary:
The American University of Kurdistan (AUK) invites applicants for the position of Director of the English Language Institute (ELI). Overview
The ELI Director is based at the American University of Kurdistan in Duhok and is responsible for the smooth running of AUK ELI programs:

Key Responsibilities
‰Û¢ be responsible for the day-to-day running of AUK ELI preparatory program in Duhok (currently 19 teachers and 300 students)
‰Û¢ oversee the running of the community programs in Duhok and Erbil
‰Û¢ oversee AUK teaching personnel and administrative staff

Curriculum / Testing
‰Û¢ oversee ELI placement testing
‰Û¢ set course requirements (levels, advancement, passing, failing)
‰Û¢ establish course achievement testing policies (with Assistant Director of Studies)
‰Û¢ see that proper grades and records are kept

Faculty / Quality Control
‰Û¢ ensure high quality of teaching across all programs
‰Û¢ monitor job performance of teaching staff
‰Û¢ provide regular on-going training and support to teachers
‰Û¢ encourage continuing professional development for staff

Student Relations
‰Û¢ liase with staff, teachers, students and clients
‰Û¢ support relations between teachers and students
‰Û¢ field student questions, requests and complaints
‰Û¢ oversee ELI grades and assessment

Requirements of Position:
‰Û¢ native English speaker
‰Û¢ passport holder of one of the following countries: the US; Canada; the UK; the Republic of Ireland; Australia; New Zealand; South Africa
‰Û¢ MA in the field of TEFL / language teaching, PhD preferred
‰Û¢ five years of teaching EFL with a minimum of two years‰Ûª experience in the Middle East
‰Û¢ two years of management experience in universities/language centers, preferably in the Middle East
‰Û¢ experience in a multicultural, diverse and inclusive setting
‰Û¢ knowledge of a Middle-Eastern language a plus
