Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English teacher to join Hey Lady! to deliver online lessons via live video, develop exciting content, facilitate meaningful conversations, be a positive presence and available at set times during the week to support our community.

The job

This is a casual/part-time role, based online. You will be part of a small but mighty team of 6! Your role is part teacher, part coach, part mentor. 

Each week, you’ll be responsible for:

• Supporting our intermediate to advanced level English learners in their pursuit of fluency and confidence to speak in English.
• Guiding group conversations via video call with anywhere from 8 to 25 women, and facilitating conversations using breakout rooms on Zoom.
• Participating in our community conversations, providing encouragement, support and teacher feedback on the articles and posts our students share on our website.
• Hosting webinars where you present a Grammar lesson and interact with our members via the chatbox.
• Attending occasional meetings with our team.

Working requirements

Availability - Your timezone and the time you are available to work with us is critical. You must have availability Sunday-Thursday from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM UTC or you need not apply. We expect you should be living in Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia or New Zealand.

Equipment - Fast, reliable and virus-free computer. You will need Google Filestream, Chrome, Zoom and Slack. You will also need a quality microphone and HD webcam that will enable clear communication during video conferencing. A phone is not acceptable. You’ll also need to ensure that your workspace is quiet, well-lit and clean every time you are on camera.

Access to High-Speed Internet - You must maintain consistent access to a fast and reliable internet connection (minimum 20mbps) for delivery of lessons. 

Essential skills

• TESOL qualification – CELTA or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience (full-time), including lesson planning and skills training for intermediate - advanced level students.
• Experience teaching English online
• Positive, motivating energy that allows your students to take risks, make mistakes and grow through experience.
• Experience with online tools such as Zoom, Google Drive (Google Docs, Slides) and Slack.
• Must understand world time zones.
• Experience working in remote teams would give you an advantage.
