Teach in Myanmar

ALBA International School Secondary (Yangon) is relatively small, about 120 students.
Our focus (Year 7-11) is IGCSE preparation, using Cambridge Counterpoint & Pearson textbooks to anchor the curriculum. The Year 9 Achievement tests and IGCSE exams are Edexcel certified.
Our student numbers are growing slowly but surely, so for this coming school year, we're looking for 2, perhaps 3, teachers:

(1) English, especially at the upper Secondary level (Year 9 & IGCSE) who might also be able take a Geo class.
(2) Science (Year 7 & 8)

and quite possibly . . .

(3) Secondary History/Geo

Also , ALBA Primary in Yangon, Myanmar is currently seeking two motivated,
enthusiastic individuals to fill homeroom positions for the 2016 -
2017 school year. The positions in question require teaching all core
subjects in either a Year 5 or Year 6 class.

Candidates must hold at least a BA and two years teaching experience.
TESOL or CELTA are also a plus.

We ask that you have at least a B.A. in the general field of study, an ongoing interest in the particular subject you'd be teaching, and solid classroom teaching experience. Teaching experience out of your home country, Secondary School experience in particular, and ESL teaching certifications are also considered requirements. Patience, kindness, flexibility, organization skills, a positive attitude--- these things are very important to us as well.

Classes are small (under 20) and reflect the unique ethnic mix of Yangon.
For the most part, students' English speaking level easily surpasses their peers in Thailand/China, at least where I've taught previously.

Your teaching load would be maximum 26 (45-minute) class periods per week.
The school day from 8:15 AM to 3:45 PM Mon-Fri. There are no weekend or night classes.
Salary details will be discussed as we proceed--- but we can certainly do better than you'll currently find in most of SE Asia. Our school year is broken into 3 semesters. There is also an optional summer session. Our academic year will begin in June 5, 2017 and run to late February 2018.
We always offer a decent bonus for completing the full year and an additional bonus if you decide to do at least half of the (normally) 8-week summer session.
Paid holidays are reasonable and no weekend or after-hours work is required. There is a 2-week holiday at Christmas-time, a few days holiday at the end of each term, and occasional government and religious holidays during the school year.
Formal meetings are minimal and morning assemblies are rare and short.

Myanmar business visas are initially single-entry and valid for only 70 days. This is a visa-on-arrival you'll be able to get with the paperwork we send you when our negotiations are finished and the contract has been signed.
It has become standard to next receive a 3-month multiple entry business visa via additional paperwork from our school and a certification of residency (Form C) that you obtain when you're settled into an apartment and have been registered at a Township Office.
The next step in the process has been to receive a 6 month visa and then finally a full years' renewable multiple entry visa . . .
All visa renewals are done in-country. ALBA handles the paperwork and the cost of all visas, other than the cost ($50) of your initial 70-day visa-on-arrival.
There is the possibility that these procedures could be modified over the next year as the NLD government further develops its policies.
