This is a fun way of reviewing / developing English vocabulary and learning more about different parts of speech. Your students will spend time discussing the meanings of unknown vocabulary before deciding to which part of speech the word belongs. They will then be able to use the appropriate colour. Your students will be interacting with their peers and completely engaged. Motivation to use dictionaries is also a possibility.
The complete list of vocabulary used in this resource can be seen in the review. Answer keys are also provided.
Pages without the words are included and are numbered 1a, 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a, 6a These can be used in two ways.
Depending on the use in a sentence some words can be categorised as different parts of speech e.g. dance could be a noun or a verb, gold could be a noun or an adjective etc. If students are unsure of which colour to use, it is suggested that a blank should be left until the pattern is almost completed. He or she should then decide which category colour fits best with the pattern, bearing in mind that all patterns are not symmetrical.
