My Profile

I recently graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's degree in English. I specialize in technical writing, having interned at two major tech companies, and with that experience, I've gotten to know my own learning style. Technical writing is all about teaching oneself about a topic enough to explain it in writing, so I understand the different ways of struggling through a concept, similar to grasping a new language. I am passionate about the learning experience, and I want to help students through their second language learning and development. 

After studying college-level Spanish for two semesters, I'm fascinated at how interconnected Californians are with Latin American culture. From living in East Los Angeles to rural Central Valley to East San Jose, I've been exposed to the many ways Spanish and English merge, cooperate, and learn from each other. MY mother is an ESL teacher as well, and she taught me all the ways our cultures are both similar and different, and how to respect the differences while celebrating the similarities. This is the kind of culture I seek to bring to the classroom.
