Hello!
My name is Ashleigh and I am so excited for this next stage in my life that hopefully, if you are reading this, you will get to be a part of. You can read through my experiences and skills that I am very passionate about education, and learning in general. I enjoy learning myself, whether it is through university courses or by being immersed in a culture and learning from experience, I am passionate about always learning something new every day. When I moved to Italy, I had no knowledge of the Italian language. I was uncomfortable at first, struggling to find my way of communication with the locals. However, after 6 months, I am finally conversational in Italian, which I believe my passion for learning helped me achieve. By realising this passion of my own, and the different styles of learning that can aide in this, I discovered that I want to be able to help others find this success in their own language learning.
I really enjoy travel, which is something I'm sure many say through this website when applying for jobs, but I would like to say I am a bit different. Sure, I enjoy visiting memorials, museums and spending a day sight seeing. But what I enjoy most from travel is being able to live within a new city, learn it's cultures, it's secrets. Get to know the locals and form friendships, and then see the city or town through their eyes. I have so much compassion for people, and knowing that they have so much to tell if someone listens is one of the unspoken gifts of travel. Travel lets me see the hidden beauties of the world, and allows me to define what that "beauty" means for myself.
I really adore children as well. For as long as I can remember, I have been working with children. I love the innocence of the way they view the world, and how so often they invite me into that world along them. Their minds and hearts know no limit, that comes later from societal pressures. So by working with them, I am able to enter back into that child-like state where I innocently view the world, and others, with clear eyes. By being a teacher, I can help them learn about the world around them in a beautiful way, removing lies from the media or society.
I enjoy being able to be a part of this upcoming generation in hopes of creating a better future for the world.

Learned and developed increased speaking and comprehension levels in Italian. Became comfortable with Italian at a conversational level. Completed a Conversational Italian course in the States. By learning language, it helped me better understand the process of language learning for others.
Targeted language learning through attentiveness to learning styles to plan activities that produce the highest opportunity to learn.
Taught one five-year-old and two eight-year-olds english every day through different teaching styles. With the younger child, I would implement learning opportunities more through her play style with occasional phonetic practice through art or linguistic exercises. With the older children, I would teach them through a curriculum book that was made up of different modules focusing on different subjects of the English language. This was done nightly when the children arrived home from school in order to prepare them for the upcoming English exams.
