AEON Corporation is one of the leading English as a Second language companies in Japan. AEON provides high quality standardized lessons all across the country, with a focus on the best service, and business support. I am currently completing a one year contract with a maximum of 25 teaching hours per week. I teach children and adults. The children are as young as 3 years old. The adults range in age and English ability from Beginner to Advanced. I am required to prepare and carry out various lessons per day, using the AEON standardized textbooks and methods. Other office duties include, but are not limited to, having meetings with students to discuss their English goals and progress, meeting with potential new students and judging their English levels, as well as regular Teacher’s meetings where we workshop our teaching and/or business skills.

I worked as an ESL teacher for 1.5 years at a high school in Thailand. During that time, I was responsible for planning and carrying out dynamic and effective ESL lessons. My students ranged in age from 12-18 years old, with varying English language abilities. It was essential that my lessons were flexible and adaptable. Time 2 Talk employs a learning-through-activity approach to language learning. I was required to use the Time 2 Talk lesson plan template for my lessons. I was responsible for assessing students and grading them as part of their overall English grade. I worked alongside a team of 7 other English teachers. It was necessary for us to coordinate lesson plans for each grade level. Good team work skills were essential. I furthermore participated in various school activities and ceremonies.
