My Profile

Hello! My name is Gretchen, and I am a US citizen from Seattle. My passion is teaching, and I teach ESL, Italian and sports like swimming and Tai Chi. I am quite an experienced instructor, and have been well received by my students; however, I am eager to always improve and update my skills. I have been accepted into an online MA program in Education/TESOL, and hope to begin coursework in September. 

Currently, I teach at a language institute in Bahrain-American Cultural and Educational Exchange. I am teaching both youth and adult classes, from Level A2-C1. I have primarily worked teaching at the tertiary level in academic settings such as colleges, although I have also worked with immigrants and refugees in my native city of Seattle, and taught youth in Italy, the USA, Turkey and Bahrain.

I strive to deliver student-centered lessons using realia whenever possible in a positive classroom environment. My students have appreciated the fact that I always make time for guided and lively discussion in the classroom, as they tell me that they have improved and refined their spoken English in my class, and have gained the confidence they have needed to study and work in an English speaking environment.

In the future, I anticipate traveling to new and interesting locations to teach and study new languages. I hope you will consider me as a candidate to teach in your institution. You won't regret it.
