Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I presently live in Brooklyn, New York. For most of my professional life I worked as an elementary school teacher (although I did teach English conversation to adults for one summer and enjoyed it immensely!)
My teaching career did, unfortunately, come to an end when I got arthritis and it became impossible to engage in all the physical aspects required for teaching young children in a classroom setting. I love do still love teaching, however. Not only does it bring out the best in me, but I do believe I bring out the best in my students.
At the present time I work as an author (I have published three books) and ghostwriter (I write other people's memoirs, autobiographies, or professional literature.) I miss teaching however, and am grateful for the opportunity to teach English part time.
I grew up speaking two languages other than English, and have a good understanding of effective means of learning new languages. I would love to have the opportunity to connect with others through teaching English. I look forward to the rewards that come from teaching in general and, in this instance, learning about other cultures while sharing my own.
