The best teachers are students who inspire curiosity in others. As a life-long student, I have always enjoyed learning and sharing my knowledge and experience with those around me. Having taught in various settings to both children and adults, I believe that teaching must have an experiential component in order to be effective in the long-term. My goal as a teacher is not only to pass on content to my students, but to ensure that their quest for knowledge continues after class is over. My role as a teacher/counselor to at-risk youth (ages 12-17), covered core subjects such as Math, Science, and Language Arts as well as critical thinking, problem solving, structure building, team building, character education, and activities of daily living. While living in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, I worked as a teacher/naturalist instructing students of all ages in Science and environmental curriculum. Supervisors and colleagues have described me as professional, reliable, positive, flexible, resilient and dynamic. I am confident I would make an valuable addition to your team.
