Introduction:

I was a single Mother of 3 children. When they where teenagers I decided to take some college courses and then went to a Pharmacy Tech School. Got a job at a pharmacy and then went on to further my education by taking a compounding pharmacy tech class. Applying what I had learned increased the business of the pharmacy. As it continued to grow from my hard work I had earned an award for Compounding Pharmacy Tech of The month of January 1998 from PCCA. I'v since moved to Pennsylvania and have been working at the same Compounding Pharmacy for 14 1/2 years. To do this I must stay current with all pharmacy changes. One of the joys I get from my job is getting to teach others how to compound. This includes teaching them how to put formula's together, and how then to use the equipment to make the needed medication.

I have always had a love for teaching, being that I was the oldest of 9 children it was my responsibility to help my siblings. As we sat around the dinning room table to do our homework I was there to help them with reading, writing, spelling, and yes on occasion even with their English.

When I got older and had children of my own I was able to use those skills with them, but not just at home at school also. My children attended a school where a room Mother was on hand every day. I volunteered one day a week. It required us to work with a group of children from the class. We help them with their school work, read stories to them, and gave them encouragement to fulfill an assignment I enjoyed this immensely. The children were so happy when they succeeded and I was happy to be a part of that. The ones in my reading group had improved so much that the teacher asked me if I could continue to volunteer in her class the following year. That gave me such a sense of accomplishment and joy that I did volunteer for her class and a second class as my child had moved to the next grade. My children are all grown up now and I really miss those days.

As time went on and I realized that I enjoyed teaching so much that I decided to become what we call in my religion a full-time minister. This is a program that teaches the bible to people free of charge at a time and place that is convenient for them.I attend the Theocratic Ministry school that has a program for developing ability as a speaker and a teacher. I've actually have had the privilege to use this program to teach several people how to read, write, and to speak English. So it's not just because of the money that I'm doing this. It is because I really do enjoy it. At this time I'n not able to take part in the full-time ministry, but am still active. I also am aware that my religious beliefs are mine and not to be forced on others. This in no way will effect my teaching others, as I feel that everyone is entitled to have a proper education without prejudice.

Regardless of how long or what you've been teaching I believe there is always room for improvement. So my goal is not only to empower my students to reach their goals, but to become an even better teacher from my experience with them. I look forward to the challenges and to impart knowledge in a way that stimulates thinking and that leaves my students with the feeling that they learned something worthwhile. This is what would make me a great addition to any team, not only am I willing to continue to be taught, but I'm a hard worker, and loyal. You don't work at the same place of business for 14 1/2 years if your not.

Experiences

Volunteer

RESCUE

September 1984 to June 1987

I volunteered in a program design for new Mothers having a hard time coping with every day problems. The Psychiatrist who ran the program also asked me to help with another one of her programs for Cognitively Limited Mothers with normal children. This inspired me to go back to collage and take a few courses in Psychology. Unfortunately the funds for this program ran out and we had to end it. I do love to help people of all ages and circumstance's.

Volunteer

Danbury CT Elementary and Middle School

I do everything that a pharmacy tech does, run computer, answer phone, fill prescriptions, run register, and help customers through out the store. I also am the Supervising Compounding Tech. I run all of the compounding between putting together formula's, and making them, dealing with doctor's who are looking for solutions to a patients unique problem. Then also taking care of said patient. I order all the powders and DME's that are needed in compounding. It is my job to keep the compounding part of the pharmacy running smoothly. I also get to teach our pharmacy intern's and any new pharmacist that is hired. It's my job also to keep us fully up to date with the times.
