Hello. I am excited to begin my journey as a TESOL teacher in new surroundings! I have been teaching students from preschool up to high-school in different areas of special education for the past 12 years. My students have ranged in abilities and needs including but not limited to the typical learner, Autistic students, Intellectually Disabled, Physically Disabled, ADHD, Other Health Impairments, and ESL. I have been a specialized teacher in a one-to-one capacity as well as a classroom teacher for students with exceptional needs and a resource teacher that held small class groups for individualized education programs for students with learning disabilities. I have enjoyed many years in between as a substitute teacher in many class environments and grades giving me experience across all environments. This experience has prepared me with knowledge of classroom management, differences of students of different ages and abilities, patience and care to teach students with additional needs, being able to pivot and change direction in a lesson when needed, and ability to locate additional resources to aid in student learning.
In addition to my professional background and experiences, my four children have always given me hope and inspiration. I have taught them to work hard and strive to achieve their passions, therefore inspiring for me to strive to achieve my own. Just like seeing my personal children succeed, It is important for me to see my students succeed in class and become confident in succeeding in their future. I would love the opportunity to help students while experiencing and learning about other cultures of our world. I am looking forward to this exciting new experience!

I have been a substitute teacher in between long term positions since 2012. Previously I was a substitute in New Jersey as well. I subbed across all grades from pre-kindergarten through high school. I began teaching in the general education classrooms, but gravitated toward special education and working with special needs children. It was my responsibility to figure out classroom management and make that work for the day or through one week. Establishing rapport with the students and being organized quickly was the key to heading off behaviors and keeping student's attention.
North Forest Pines Elementary
September 2017 to February 2018
One -to-one instructional assistant for a fourth grade student with multiple disabilities. This student was in the general curriculum and I assisted him in his general classes as well as his resource classes. My student was an interesting but challenging case. The main need for a one-on-one assistant was severe behaviors and focus challenges. I began this position as a substitute teacher and was asked to stay on as his teacher.
Heritage High School
January 2019 to March 2021
Assisted in a high school, self contained classroom for students with exceptional needs as a one-to-one aid for an autistic student that had difficulty focusing and had behavioral challenges. During the quarantine part of the pandemic I moved to a lead position and taught students in small groups virtually. I was responsible for collaborating with the other teachers and preparing as well as delivering curriculum and assessments. Students had to be taught virtually how to access and utilize the systems and programs that we used daily. This was an interesting challenge. I began this position as a substitute teacher and was asked to stay on permanently.

Special Education Resource teacher for fourth and fifth grade students with learning disabilities in a small class setting. Each class is 30 minutes in length and the curriculum is based on each student's Individualized Education Program. In addition to being the lead teacher, I manage each student's case consisting of legal paperwork, meetings, documentation of progress, and adjusting lessons to meet progress. My personal caseload last school year was 31 students and this coming school year will be up to 33 students. This position requires skills in behavior management, time management, organization, flexibility and patience. I often need to coordinate with parents, the general education teacher, other service providers such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, and any other outside provider that may be involved in each case.
