PRODUCTION

• Oversee the production process;

• Supervise the production staff;

• Draw up a production schedule every week by liaising with management;

• Implement the production schedule;

• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed;

• Ensure that the production is cost effective by minimising wastage etc;

STOCK

• Order stock, once authorisation is received by management, at correct times to ensure production runs smoothly;

• Use order numbers when ordering stock, obtained from the accounts clerk;

• Issue stock to each bay every day according to the unit to be produced according to the production schedule;

• Keep the stock rooms in order, issuing stock to production bays when necessary; Inform management of wastage of material and consumables;

• Keep a record of abnormal stock usage and discuss with management;

• Advise management of any stock shortages before it stops production;

• Count stock every Thursday and supply information to management in a specified format before 12pm;

• Count all stock at the end of every month, ensuring an accurate count;

QUALITY

• Ensure that products were produced on time and were of good quality;

• Sign off every unit at every bay for quality, ensure all defects are resolved before being signed off;

• Set the quality standards from the beginning and ensure they are enforced;

• Monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes;

• Discipline employees and issue disciplinary procedures if work is not of the correct quality standards or if employees ignore instructions.

EMPLOYEES

• Calculate the human and material resources needed;

• Inform management of any under-utilised labour and ensure their time is efficiently utilised elsewhere;

• Supervise and motivate a team of workers;

• Review employee performance;

• Inform management of any employee issues and if any discipline procedures are necessary;

• Conduct and assist with disciplinary procedures of any production employees;

• Identify training needs;

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS

• Ensure all work bays have sufficient tools required to perform their tasks and that a spread sheet is maintained of tools issued to various bays;

• Maintain all tools and equipment, inform management of any excessive wear and tear of tools and equipment;

• Ensure a fortnightly tool count is done to ensure tools exist and are still in possession of various bays as well as the condition that they are in.

GENERAL

• Work with management to implement the Company policies and goals;

• Ensure the workshop is kept in a neat and tidy condition at all times;

• Enforce a clean up time for the last 10 minutes of the day on the production floor;

• Perform spot checks in bay areas daily, ensuring tool boxes are complete and the area tidy;

• Time needs to be spent in each bay daily. This needs to be implemented and minimum of 3-4 hours needs to be spent walking and monitoring the bays daily.
