Introduction:

To whom it may concern,

I am currently teaching O-level math, physics, chemistry, and biology at Sanxin International School in Zhongshan, China. I am responsible for teaching the principles of these courses but am I primarily focused on pronunciation, vocabulary, and understandability in English. This is to ensure that students traveling abroad for future studies will be able to understand the math and science classes they will be taking. Previously, I worked at Wilshire Korea Academy in Seomyeon, Busan, South Korea-my fourth contract with this school. At Wilshire, I was responsible for teaching a wide range of subjects: English conversation, reading, listening, chemistry, physics, and TOEFL speaking and writing to students ranging from middle school to university age. I was also responsible for training incoming teachers of our teaching practices at Wilshire. In March 2010, I started working at Youngsan University in Bansong and Seochang, South Korea and worked there for three years. During my time at Youngsan, I taught a variety of courses including English conversation, reading, and writing. I was also one of two foreign coordinators for our children’s camp in July-August of 2010.  As a coordinator, I was primarily responsible for preparing materials, scheduling, and problem solving for foreign teachers in addition to teaching classes and conducting a cooking lab. As a speech adviser at Youngsan my students placed 1st and 3rd in 2010 and 3rd in 2011 in our university’s annual speech contest.  In addition, I was involved in a special Ulsan Elementary Teachers Training Course. In this course, I was responsible for teaching reading and discussion. My first teaching experience in Korea I taught English conversation at ECC Pukpusan Academy for one year to students ranging from kindergarten to high school age. Prior to coming to Korea, I taught science and math for one and a half years in Texas high schools.

I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and a minor in mathematics.  During my time at Sam Houston State University I taught organic chemistry labs for four and a half years and conducted numerous years of varied research, primarily with Dr. Rick White. Through teaching this lab I became aware that my career path should be in teaching and not in industry.

I believe that my enthusiasm and desire for teaching makes me an excellent candidate for your job opening. If given an opportunity for an interview I will provide all other relevant documents. I would appreciate a chance to further discuss my abilities and experiences as an educator.  Thank you for your consideration.
