Introduction:

I recently graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing. While at Azusa Pacific, I worked at the university's Writing Center for three years. My experience at the Writing Center ignited my love for teaching English language learners.

At the Writing Center, I had the privilege of working with many international students whose first language was not English. It was a joy to help strengthen their understanding of English, build their writer's toolkit, and learn about their culture. I formed strong relationships with many of these students; I was amazed to find that I learned as much from them as they did from me! Through weekly sessions, I was able to teach my students about verb usage, article usage, sentence structure, how to organize a paper, and more. My students, in turn, taught me much about their home country, whether it be Taiwan, South Korea, or Guatemala, and this enriched my university experience immensely.

From my experience at the Writing Center, I learned many tools, techniques, and approaches to working with English language learners. I also developed effective communication practices to use with these students. As a teacher, I am extremely patient, dedicated, and passionate.
