Thank you for reading my profile.
I am a qualified, licensed English and ESL teacher with over 6 years of
experience across all levels of education. I have an Honors degree, as well as a Post-graduate
teaching qualification and experience working in and teaching English and film
and video production. As indicated on the
enclosed resume, I have worked (post qualification) as a foreign language English
teacher in Japan, Korea and in Saudi Arabia. I have taught
part-time as a university lecturer and teaching English to grade 7, 8, 9 and 10
at a private High School in South Africa. I was a grade 3/4 class teacher at a CIE
international school and am currently teaching grades
3 to 6
at an Elementary school in South Korea and completing an MA in Technology in Language
Learning through Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
In addition to this practical experience, I have completed my P.G.C.E (with distinction); majoring in English, and TESOL certificate as well as an additional THRASS course (Teaching Reading and Spelling Skills). I have Cambridge examiner certification and have completed an introductory course on the IB PYP curriculum model. I am confident that these credentials, with the years of teaching experience, enable me to handle any teaching situation.
Prior to teaching I was the senior audiovisual technician at a prestigious University. I developed and maintained the audio-visual infrastructure of the campus, managing a team of three, full-time, while successfully completing a PGCE, with distinction. I am comfortable in the use of educational technology and my background in film media has equipped me with skills in video production and editing. I also have certificates in basic Mandarin.
I believe teachers should be aware, creative and understanding in their approach to teaching; aware of different methods of teaching and current pedagogical theory and practice; creative enough to employ a variety of techniques and strategies and, most importantly, understanding of their learners’ diverse needs and how to meet them to maintain a learning-centered classroom.
Teaching English and living in foreign countries is familiar to me, and my aspiration is to work in a school environment that is both challenging and rewarding. Should you be interested, I would welcome the opportunity to interview with you. I will be available for employment from mid-August 2017.
