I'm twenty-two-years old and a recent graduate so I haven't had a great deal of teaching experience so far. However the opportunities and jobs that I've had have led me to learn a lot (maybe even more than the kids) about teaching: not only how rewarding it is but how fun it can be. So far my experiences have been with SEN schools and adult refugees but I'm open to new environments, especially those that can teach me more about how to both plan lessons and activities but also get to know my students. I had some awful times and some fantastic times at school and I'm determined to make sure any pupil of mine has the latter.

I helped teach in classes of about ten to fifteen children between the ages of 11 and 18, all of whom had either mild or severe special educational needs. I taught English, mathematics and often other subjects such as music and science. I also monitored the kids during lunch breaks and bus groups. I worked primarily with a class of sixth formers but also towards the end of my employment with a class of younger children who had quite severe needs. Oaktree taught me not only about how to structure and carry out lessons and activities, but also the value of being personable with the kids and ensuring that everyone enjoyed the school day.
